Governor Maura Healey announced that SNAP benefits will be paid “IN FULL” starting Saturday. She added that recipients who have not missed a payment will continue to receive their next installment as scheduled.

The governor shared the announcement on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Friday afternoon, emphasizing, “people need to eat. We’re making sure they do.”

This update follows a federal judge’s order in Rhode Island requiring the Trump administration to secure funding to fully cover SNAP benefits for November. The decision, however, was quickly appealed.

While Governor Healey did not specify how Massachusetts is funding the SNAP program, she criticized the federal administration amid the government shutdown stalemate in Congress. “Americans are going hungry because President Trump chose to play politics with their lives,” she stated in her social media message.

She also assured SNAP recipients who missed a payment that they should begin seeing benefits on their cards as early as tomorrow.

This is a developing story.
