This past week, Sega and Ryo Ga Gotoku Studio released *Virtua Fighter 5 REVO World Stage* on consoles and PC. This release brought the rollback netcode from REVO’s PC version to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, introduced crossplay, and made Dural playable in the base roster and stage selection. Additionally, a new offline mode was added, allowing players to test themselves against a computer-controlled gauntlet in a fresh single-player quest.

By all accounts, this could be the final chapter of *Virtua Fighter 5* before Sega’s next big project in the series arrives. To learn more, we spoke with Seiji Aoki about the release, ongoing support, community feedback, and what’s next as the franchise transitions to a new generation.

### Meeting Community Requests Head-On

One of the standout additions in *World Stage* is a proper single-player mode. While *Virtua Fighter 5* has had an arcade mode, there wasn’t an extensive single-player experience until now. This was a common request from players eager for more solo content.

“Up until now, we have been receiving comments that they would like a more in-depth single-player mode,” Aoki told us. “Before, the Quest mode was very popular. A lot of people have been wanting that back. On our official Discord and X, we were receiving many comments like that. So that’s why we decided to create this new World Stage mode. We’ve been trying to listen to those voices, and that’s how we’ve progressed with creating new elements for the game.”

Delivering a multiplatform release was also a priority. The original *Virtua Fighter 5 REVO* launched only on PC, which limited the player base despite earlier versions of *Virtua Fighter 5* being available on consoles.

“Other people will be able to play on other platforms as well,” Aoki added. “It’s available on PS5, Xbox, and Steam this time. It used to be only on Steam, so some people were not able to play because they were on other platforms. Now that it’s also on Xbox and PS5 alongside Steam, I hope that many more people will be able to play the game.”

Discord, in particular, has been instrumental for the developers as a hub for constructive community feedback. For Aoki, who initially worked on arcade games, the lack of direct in-person feedback from console and PC players was a bit jarring. However, as the team adapted to new trends, they learned to take feedback from online channels and implement it effectively.

“Thanks to the fans,” Aoki explained, “we have been able to establish an environment where good communication happens between developers and users, enabling us to plan based on direct feedback.”

### Preparing for a New Generation

The big topic looming over the *Virtua Fighter* franchise is the development of the next game. Fans are eager to know when it will arrive, but Sega and Ryo Ga Gotoku Studio have emphasized that their goal is to ensure the new entry feels right—a true evolution of the brand that retains the spirit of *Virtua Fighter*.

Until then, *Virtua Fighter 5 REVO World Stage* is tasked with keeping the series fresh and engaging, a responsibility Aoki embraces with pride.

“The new *Virtua Fighter* isn’t out yet, so it’s been a very long time since the last game was released,” Aoki said. “That’s why I’m happy to be able to release this new World Stage version of the game now. I also want to thank the fans because, without them, we wouldn’t be able to release this new version. So, thank you very much.”

With *Virtua Fighter 5 REVO World Stage* available across multiple platforms, supported by a responsive development team listening closely to the community, the franchise is well-positioned to maintain momentum as it awaits its next evolution.
