CHICAGO (WLS) – More than 300 flights were canceled at Chicago O’Hare International Airport on Sunday, with extensive delays impacting the Northwest Side airport.
There is a ground delay at O’Hare due to runway construction occurring from 7:45 a.m. to 9:59 p.m.
As of 4:11 p.m., a total of 348 flights have been canceled at O’Hare, with delays averaging 53 minutes. This slowdown at O’Hare and 39 other major airports across the nation is now in its third day, causing more widespread disruptions.
According to FlightAware, a website that tracks air travel disruptions, there were more than 7,000 additional delays on Sunday alone.
Snow could also become a factor at O’Hare, as a Winter Storm Warning is set to go into effect in Cook County starting at 9 p.m. Sunday. Parts of the Chicago area could see several inches of snow Sunday night into Monday.
