President Donald Trump was once again met with both loud boos and some cheers while attending the Washington Commanders football game in Maryland on Sunday night. When Trump and his entourage appeared on the stadium’s big screen in the first half, many fans vocally booed—even as others clapped and yelled in support.

During halftime, Trump participated in an enlistment ceremony for new military members. The crowd reaction was similar: scattered applause mixed with jeers, and the boos occasionally drowned out his remarks over the speaker system.

According to a pool report, House Speaker Mike Johnson and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth also joined the president at the game. This appearance is the latest example of backlash Trump has faced at sporting events. He was booed while attending the U.S. Open in September and the FIFA Club World Cup in July.

Trump is the first sitting president to attend a regular-season NFL game since Jimmy Carter did so in 1978. In the past, he’s criticized the Commanders for not restoring their former name, the Washington Redskins—a moniker widely recognized as racist.

Before Sunday’s game, Air Force One conducted a flyover of the stadium, which Trump later touted as “the greatest flyover ever.” During the third quarter, he even joined Fox commentators in the broadcast booth, praising certain players and reminiscing about his high school football days.

According to an ESPN report, Trump is reportedly eager to have the team’s new stadium named after him.
