The problem, when it comes to people who “don’t want cats,” is that they are not the ones who choose. Cats choose their humans—that is a fact.
If a cat chooses a human who doesn’t actually want to have a cat, quite frankly, that’s the human’s problem. Cats don’t choose just anyone. They choose good people—the kind of people who, on a gut level, will be happy to take care of them until the end of their days.
And good people cannot resist cats. Even those who don’t have a particular love for cats will not let them starve if they ask for help.
This is exactly what happened here. A mom who didn’t want a cat got chosen by one. She can pretend as much as she wants that she still doesn’t want him or doesn’t love him more than anything in the world, but the amount of toys, cat food, and especially the cat sling carrier say otherwise.
