A recent update from Nintendo has left users of third-party docks for the Nintendo Switch 2 frustrated. The Version 21.0.0 firmware update, released earlier this week, seemingly caused many third-party docks to stop working. This led to widespread accusations that Nintendo was deliberately sabotaging third-party hardware.

Nintendo has firmly denied these claims. Meanwhile, third-party manufacturers quickly identified the issue and began adapting their products to address the problem.

This situation was confirmed by Tom’s Hardware, which recently obtained an official statement from Nintendo regarding the matter. An official Nintendo representative commented on the concerns, emphasizing that the disruption was not intentional.

Further supporting Nintendo’s position, Tom’s Hardware also reported that several manufacturers of third-party Switch 2 docks have acknowledged the performance issues following the recent update. These manufacturers have since released their own firmware updates to restore functionality. Notably, popular accessory maker AverMedia was among the companies to push such updates.

If Nintendo and the third-party dock makers are to be believed, the entire incident appears to be an unintended consequence of the Version 21.0.0 firmware update rather than a deliberate move against third-party hardware.
