**Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Morena Sets Record with India’s First Solar-plus-Storage Project at Rs 2.70 per Unit**

In a major milestone for renewable energy in Madhya Pradesh, the state’s first Solar-plus-Storage project in Morena has achieved a record-low tariff of Rs 2.70 per unit. This landmark project is the first in India to provide firm and dispatchable renewable energy (FDRE) at a cost below Rs 3 per unit.

Boasting an impressive 95% annual availability, the Morena project sets a new benchmark in renewable energy supply. Earlier initiatives across the country managed only about 50% availability during peak hours and 85% annually. However, the Morena Solar Park is changing this landscape by ensuring 95% power supply availability during peak demand times.

The project is being developed by Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited, a company with a strong track record of executing prestigious renewable energy projects. The electricity generated will be purchased by the state government, supporting Madhya Pradesh’s sustainable energy goals.

**Project Details and Capacity**

Two units are being established within the Morena Solar Park, each delivering 220 MW capacity spread across three phases. This scale of development highlights the growing commitment to large-scale clean energy infrastructure in the region.

**Global Competitive Bidding**

The e-reverse auction for the project was conducted over a 12-hour bidding process last Friday. Sixteen national and international companies participated, reflecting nearly ten times oversubscription relative to the offered capacity. Notable participants included Adani Renewables, NTPC Renewables, ReNew Solar, ACME, Engie Energy, Dilip Buildcon, and MB Power.

The bidding resulted in Unit-1 being awarded to Ceigall India Ltd at a tariff of Rs 2.70 per unit, while Unit-2 went to Acme Solar Holding Ltd at Rs 2.764 per unit.

This achievement not only marks a significant step forward for renewable energy in Madhya Pradesh but also sets a new standard for cost-effective, reliable solar power with storage solutions across India.
