Good Hope’s terrific season came to an end Friday night following a 28-7 quarterfinal loss to Plainview. The Class 4A No. 10 Raiders scored in the second quarter Mason Drake secured a rushing touchdown to tie the clash at 7, but the No. 5 Bears commanded the contest from there, registering the final 21 points to pull away and ultimately advance. Plainview (13-0) will play No. 4 Anniston or No. 8 Deshler in the semifinals next week. “I thought the difference in the game was their offensive and defensive lines,” Good Hope coach Alan Scott said. “Plainview is really big and physical upfront . disciplined and well-coached, too.” The Raiders, meanwhile, finished 10-3, reaching the 10-win plateau for the second consecutive season under Scott. Good Hope also notched its most points (412) since the 2018 team that registered 442 and also reached the quarterfinals. “It was a really fun year,” Scott said. “These guys really matured a lot as the season went on, and I thought they really played for one another played hard each and every week. I think that’s something our community is very proud of, and I think they’ll be remembered as a gritty team that would fight you until the end.”.
