**DGP Kailash Makwana Directs Protection of Department-Owned Land Across Madhya Pradesh**

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Director General of Police Kailash Makwana has instructed officials to safeguard land and properties owned by the police department scattered across the state, officials have confirmed.

Currently, hundreds of acres of department-owned land lie unused across various districts, often without even notice boards indicating police ownership. While police personnel are tasked with protecting public property, they will now also be responsible for securing their own immovable assets.

In line with this, DGP Kailash Makwana has issued clear instructions to all Superintendents of Police and battalion commandants to ensure proper care and protection of these lands.

Police Headquarters is actively gathering detailed information about the condition of these vacant lands. Efforts are underway to identify any instances of encroachment and to verify whether the land documents are properly updated in the names of the respective police units or battalions.

Currently, these lands are unused but hold significant potential. Police Headquarters envisions these plots as future sites for housing construction for police personnel and officers, as well as for other purposes under various departmental schemes.

Despite their importance, many of these land plots have been neglected over long periods. There are concerns that some lands may have been encroached upon or might not be correctly registered under the respective district police or battalion names.

To address these issues, the DGP has directed all Superintendents of Police and Battalion Commandants to:

– Ensure that police-owned land in their jurisdictions remains free from encroachments.
– Verify that land mutations (registrations) are accurate and up to date.
– Properly demarcate and protect these land plots.

An Assistant Inspector General of Police from the Police Headquarters’ Management Branch will provide regular updates on the status of police land to districts and battalions. Senior officers will be kept informed to maintain accountability.

Emphasizing the importance of these assets, the DGP stated that these lands should be preserved for constructing housing and buildings for police personnel and officers. Additionally, the land could be utilized for other police-related projects, further highlighting the need for their protection and maintenance.

Special Director General of the Police Welfare Branch, Anil Kumar, added, “District police and battalions have been instructed to review all government land under their control. Any land not yet registered in their name must be registered immediately, and any discrepancies should be corrected without delay. This land will be crucial for future police-related development projects.”

These instructions were formally issued during the annual meeting of the Joint Police Advisory Committee and Police Welfare Committee. The initiative underscores a renewed focus on asset management and welfare improvements for the police force across Madhya Pradesh.
