Prominent media analytics company has partnered with Qatar’s nascent Film Committee to open a regional office in the Qatari capital of Doha that will provide data-driven intelligence to the tiny Arab state rich in oil and gas that is aiming to take its nascent film and TV business to the next level. The Qatar Film Committee is an official body that is part of the Media City Qatar hub tasked with driving growth of the country’s entertainment industry. It is led by Hassan Al Thawadi (pictured) the Qatari lawyer who oversaw the 2022 FIFA World Cup soccer tournament, which was considered a triumph for the country. “Under the partnership, Film Committee will embed Parrot Analytics‘ predictive analytics into every investment decision, transforming how content is selected, developed, and marketed,” according to a joint statement. “This makes Qatar the first country in the MENA [Middle East and North Africa] region to adopt an end-to-end data-driven film financing strategy, setting a new standard for a return on investment-driven national content investment,” the statement noted. The partnership was announced during the inaugural Doha Film Festival‘s Industry Days, which saw a flurry of announcements including the launch of a a regional rebate on production offering up to 50% in cash, production deals with U. S. studios Neon, Miramax and Sony and with Hollywood’s post-production and VFX giant Company 3 to set up a post-production and VFX studio in Doha. In leveraging Parrot Analytics’ global audience analytics, Qatar’s Film Committee joins top streamers and studios including Disney, Amazon Prime Video, Warner Bros. Discovery and Sony Pictures.
