Midway Mayor Grayson Vandegrift has initiated a discussion regarding the implementation of a fee and refundable deposit for organizations—both for-profit and nonprofit—that wish to hold events in Midway, such as road races.
Vandegrift shared that he surveyed several other towns and cities across Kentucky to understand how event fees are typically handled. He noted that Midway appears to be the only municipality in the area that currently does not charge any fee for hosting events.
“This isn’t about discouraging people from holding things here,” Vandegrift emphasized, clarifying the intent behind the proposal.
