**Santa Clarita Man Arrested for Allegedly Poisoning Roommates’ Food with Bug Spray**
A 42-year-old Santa Clarita man, Timothy Bradbury, has been accused of poisoning his roommates’ food with bug spray. The allegations came to light after the roommates caught him in the act on camera and turned the footage over to authorities, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported.
The incident escalated on Tuesday when Bradbury temporarily barricaded himself inside his apartment. After negotiations and the involvement of a licensed mental health clinician, he was taken into custody on suspicion of willful poisoning of food, drink, medicine, or water with intent to cause injury, the department said in a news release.
**Roommates Describe Harrowing Experience**
Davidson Hopper and his wife, Billy Yates, who shared the Cedar Ridge Court residence with Bradbury, said their troubles began almost immediately after moving in. They noticed their clothes were repeatedly being cut up, and soon after, they started suffering adverse reactions to their food.
“The biggest symptoms we had were stomach problems. It’s like eating really spicy food and you get intense burning,” Hopper explained.
Yates was hospitalized multiple times and underwent CAT scans and MRIs, according to Hopper. Hopper himself recently sought emergency medical care.
“I went to the hospital the other day thinking I was having a heart attack,” he said.
**Landlord Installs Cameras; Shocking Footage Revealed**
After the couple expressed their concerns, the landlord installed security cameras at the property in late 2025. Reviewing the footage left them shocked. The video showed a man in a hoodie and mask, identified by authorities as Bradbury, entering the kitchen with an aerosol can—allegedly bug poison—and spraying it on various items.
“He was a random roommate and we never had a conversation with him once,” Hopper told The Times.
**Financial and Emotional Toll**
The couple said the financial strain of the alleged poisoning was a major reason they didn’t move out sooner.
“We constantly had to replace our clothes and food because they were damaged,” Hopper noted. “Paying all of the medical bills strained our finances as well.”
**Police Response and Ongoing Investigation**
On Tuesday, deputies responded to the Cedar Ridge Court residence after learning Bradbury was present. When officers attempted to contact him, Bradbury retreated inside and refused to exit. To encourage him to come out, authorities brought a licensed mental health clinician to the scene after conferring with his family.
After approximately two hours, Bradbury exited voluntarily and was taken into custody without the use of force. Deputies then executed a search warrant on the residence and recovered physical evidence related to the poisoning allegations.
The investigation remains ongoing. Authorities urge anyone with additional information to come forward.
