**Indore Police Arrest Woman from West Bengal for Forcing Victim into Prostitution**
Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Palasia police have arrested a woman from West Bengal who was allegedly involved in selling a young woman and forcing her into prostitution. The accused had been absconding for the past three years along with her husband and was recently apprehended from a village near the Bangladesh border. However, her husband managed to escape under the cover of darkness and the challenging border terrain.
According to police, the case dates back to 2022 when the victim, a resident of West Bengal, reported that she had been lured and trapped into prostitution. During the investigation, two other accused—Jasmin from Mumbai and Amrin from Khajrana—were arrested earlier.
The key accused, Kakli from the North 24 Parganas district in West Bengal, had been on the run until her recent arrest. Her husband, Nasirul Mondal, continues to remain at large.
Police revealed that the couple was part of an inter-state trafficking racket that lured women and girls from West Bengal to Indore under the false promise of domestic work. In this case, the victim was taken from West Bengal to Navi Mumbai with the assurance of employment as a house help.
While in Navi Mumbai, Jasmin pressured the victim to enter prostitution. When the victim resisted, she was sent to Amrin in Khajrana under the same pretext. At Amrin’s residence, the victim was locked inside a flat and forced into sex work.
Fortunately, the victim managed to escape and subsequently lodged a police complaint. This complaint led to the arrests in the case, marking a significant breakthrough in the investigation.
Authorities continue to search for the fugitive husband while the investigation proceeds into the trafficking network.
