**Delhi Metro Launches Campaign to Curb Social Media Content Creation on Trains**

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has initiated a campaign to discourage commuters from creating social media content while on metro trains. Launched on September 14, this campaign is set to be implemented across the entire metro network throughout the week, according to a DMRC official cited by Hindustan Times.

As part of the initiative, in-train announcements warn passengers against recording reels or playing loud music during their journey. These measures aim to improve the overall passenger experience by minimizing disruptions.

**Passenger Experience: Enhancing Comfort**

Anuj Dayal, the principal executive director of corporate communications at DMRC, emphasized that the new measures are designed to ensure passenger comfort. He stated, “This step has been taken to ensure that fellow passengers are not inconvenienced due to such activity.”

The announcements are broadcast in both English and Hindi and supplement existing rules, such as prohibitions on sitting on floors or eating inside coaches.

**Legal Framework: What the Law Says**

While the Metro Railways Act, 2002, does not specifically ban shooting reels, it does allow for fines against individuals “creating a nuisance” inside metro stations or coaches. This provision is being used to address disturbances caused by video shooting and similar activities.

The decision to broadcast in-train announcements comes as Delhi Metro increasingly becomes a hotspot for shooting video content, often causing inconvenience to other commuters.

**Enforcement Challenges**

In 2023, DMRC instructed its flying squads, traditionally tasked with preventing men from entering women’s coaches, to also monitor and manage commuters creating objectionable video content, as reported by The Times of India.

Separately, in April this year, a 25-year-old commuter was arrested for allegedly drinking alcohol inside a metro coach, highlighting DMRC’s ongoing efforts to maintain discipline and safety within the metro system.

By implementing these measures, DMRC aims to preserve a comfortable and respectful environment for all passengers, balancing modern commuter behavior with public decorum.
